Dr Abdu Mukhtar Biography

Dr Abdu Mukhtar’s birth took place on October 10th, 1967, in Dambatta, located in Kano State, Nigeria. He hails from a family deeply entrenched in leadership and service. 

His father, Alhaji (Dr.) Mukhtar Adnan, is not only the revered Sarkinbai of Kano and District Head of Dambatta but also the distinguished leader of the Dambazawa Fulani clan. Dr Abdu Mukhtar Adnan has made significant contributions as a former Nigerian parliamentarian and notably served as the inaugural Commissioner for Education in Kano State. 

Abdu Mukhtar’s mother, Hajiya Habiba Mukhtar, has been a guiding light in the family, contributing to their rich heritage and values.

DIL stands as one of Africa’s largest diversified conglomerates.[4] During his tenure, Mukhtar held roles in both the Executive and Management Committees, reporting directly to the esteemed founder and Group President, Aliko Dangote, a prominent figure recognized by Forbes Magazine as Africa’s wealthiest individual.

At Dangote, Mukhtar played a pivotal role in establishing and overseeing the Corporate Strategy Department. He contributed significantly to defining the company’s overall strategic direction, overseeing strategic planning across the group’s business units, subsidiaries, and associated companies. Notably, Mukhtar spearheaded Dangote’s expansion into cement manufacturing across 18 African countries. 

He also played a key role in fostering strategic partnerships both locally and internationally. Among his achievements are notable joint ventures, including a $5 billion collaboration with the Blackstone Group and a $2 billion partnership with the Carlyle Group.

His contributions extended further to analyzing and participating in the execution of various groundbreaking initiatives, notably the development of a $12 billion oil refinery and petrochemical plant, touted as the world’s largest of its kind. Additionally, Mukhtar was instrumental in steering other projects valued at approximately $7 billion during his tenure at Dangote.[4]
