In September 2020, the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama dismissed the case due to a lack of commitment from the police in pursuing it. However, in the same month, the case was reexamined in a magistrate court in Zuba, Abuja, where video evidence of the incident was presented. Abbo was found responsible and was instructed to pay ₦50 million to Osimibibra Warmate, the shop owner.
