Idris found himself in trouble when he was arrested in Kano in May 2022. This action followed his failure to respond to the EFCC’s invitations for questioning regarding the allegation. After his arrest and subsequent arraignment, the former Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, took the decision to indefinitely suspend him from his role, which also meant he was not receiving any pay during the suspension.
